A man was shot in the stomach Tuesday night after a rifle-wielding robber forced his way into a southwest Oklahoma City home, and police had not released descriptions of or announced arrests for the gunman or his accomplice. Officers were called to the area near South Morgan Road and Southwest 29th Street just before 9 p.m. after reports of shots fired, arriving to find the victim with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

According to News 9, the victim was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition by officers at the scene. Investigators say two people were inside the home to smoke marijuana when a suspect knocked on the door, and once an occupant answered, the man pulled out a rifle and forced his way inside to steal the drugs.

Lookout Posted Outside While Robbery Unfolded

A second suspect remained outside the home acting as a lookout while the robbery took place, the station's report states. After the shooting, both suspects fled the scene, and as of the report, police had not released descriptions of either man or announced any arrests. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

This is not the only recent case of an alleged robbery tied to marijuana turning violent in southwest Oklahoma City. In a separate incident the previous Friday night, a homeowner shot a suspect during an alleged robbery near Southwest 44th Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue, leaving that suspect in critical condition, per the same News 9 account of the area's recent violence.

Pattern of Marijuana-Related Stash House Robberies in the Metro

Armed robberies targeting marijuana in the Oklahoma City area are not unheard of. In February 2024, officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at a metro home where, according to Free Press Oklahoma, three men forced their way inside, ordered victims to the floor, and restrained them with zip-ties before stealing marijuana and cash. That outlet reported more than $36,000 and over 600 pounds of marijuana were taken in the case, while a separate account from the Southwest Ledger states that arrests in the case led to the seizure of 690 pounds of marijuana, $40,710 in cash, and one firearm.

The Southwest Ledger also reported on a separate armed robbery in June 2024 at Lxchen LLC, a medical marijuana grow operation in Garvin County.

No further details have been released about Tuesday night's shooting, and police have not said whether the two cases from the same stretch of southwest Oklahoma City are related. The investigation into the robbery near South Morgan Road and Southwest 29th Street continues, with no suspect descriptions or arrests announced.
