The Rotary clubs of Fitchburg and Leominster are seeking sponsors for the 29th annual Breakfast for the Bands, a fundraiser for both high schools' music programs. The breakfast pairs pancakes with marching-band pride and has become a fixture of the Fitchburg-Leominster community calendar.

The Sentinel & Enterprise reported that the two clubs have co-chaired the breakfast since the tradition began in 1995. The event alternates between Fitchburg and Leominster high schools and is scheduled for the Sunday before the schools' Thanksgiving Day football rivalry game.

The breakfast raises money for both schools' music programs.

A Tradition Rooted in Fellowship

Organizers also accept placemat advertisements and donated raffle items to support the event each year, according to the same account.

Fundraising momentum carried into this fall's kickoff gathering. The Rotary clubs of Fitchburg and Leominster held their annual joint luncheon at Appleseeds Restaurant, located at the Leominster Center for Technical Education Innovation at the high school — a facility that includes Appleseeds, the CTEI's culinary program.

Why the Money Matters for Local Bands

The breakfast supports the music programs at both schools.

Rotary District 7910 has reported that more than $100,000 has been donated to the bands.

Looking Back at Recent Turnouts

The 27th annual breakfast drew over 950 attendees and more than 40 volunteers, according to Rotary District 7910.

Rotary District 7910 said proceeds would be presented to each high school band in January.

What Past Fundraising Shows

The fundraiser’s past results offer a record of how donations have supported the bands. The 28th annual breakfast netted over $20,000 for the Fitchburg and Leominster high school bands, according to the Sentinel & Enterprise.
