At least one person is dead after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Alta Mesa Road and Boessow Road in Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, and the investigation remains active as authorities continue piecing together what happened.
The California Highway Patrol's traffic log shows officers were sent to the intersection just before 7 p.m., according to KCRA. KCRA's November 4 report included details about the collision sequence, the drivers, and the injuries.
A real-time fatality-feed log from chpfatal.com captured the incident as it unfolded in real time. The first entry, logged at 6:49 p.m., noted that the number of vehicles involved was unknown and that a vehicle had rolled over. A minute later, a follow-up entry described a white pickup truck colliding with a silver four-door sedan, with the sedan left on its side at the intersection.
Conflicting Early Reports Painted a Changing Picture
By 6:52 p.m., the same feed updated again, this time describing a white Chevrolet pickup truck that had gone off the roadway and come to rest in a field. The shifting details across those few minutes reflect how quickly information changes in the earliest moments after a crash, before investigators have had time to confirm a full account.
Neither the identity of the person who died nor the cause of the crash has been released. KCRA reported that three people were transported with injuries: the Honda passengers and the Chevy Silverado driver. KCRA reported that CHP said the Honda Pilot driver turned left into the path of the Chevy Silverado.
As with many fatal crash reports in the hours immediately following an incident, the full picture is still coming into focus. Hoodline will update this story as the California Highway Patrol and other officials release additional information about the crash at Alta Mesa and Boessow roads.
