A woman was stabbed outside a convenience store in Selah on Halloween night, and the man suspected of attacking her didn’t make it far before police tracked him down. Selah police officers responded to a reported stabbing at the store on First Street, and the suspect was later arrested and booked into Yakima County jail.
According to AppleValleyNewsNow.com, Selah police said the man ran from the scene after allegedly stabbing the woman. NBC Right Now reports that officers were called to the Selah Mini Mart around 6:40 p.m. after reports of a weapons disturbance, and that the male suspect had already left the scene on foot by the time police arrived.
The injured woman was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, per the same report. Selah police said the suspect was found near the scene of the stabbing, and he was arrested and sent to Yakima County jail.
Charge Details Differ Between Reports
Exactly how the charge is being described varies by outlet. NBC Right Now reports the man was arrested on a charge of first-degree assault with a domestic-violence enhancement, while the seed article’s record describes the charge as first-degree domestic violence assault. The evidence reviewed does not make clear whether these labels refer to the same formal charge.
Police said the suspect has been identified as the man believed to have stabbed the woman, though his identity was not disclosed in the available reporting. The Yakima Police Department and the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office both assisted Selah police in finding the suspect, and members of the public also helped in locating him, according to the account relayed by AppleValleyNewsNow.com.
Police Still Seeking Information
The Selah Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 509-698-7347. The case was reported Halloween night, Selah police said, with officers responding to the convenience store call that evening.
This is not the only recent domestic violence stabbing case to come out of Selah. In a separate incident, a 30-year-old Selah woman was accused of stabbing her boyfriend during a fight, according to the Yakima Herald. In that case, the man was stabbed in the chest and taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, and the woman was booked into Yakima County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
