A 38-year-old Seymour man is facing a lengthy list of felony charges, including child rape, following what authorities describe as a years-long investigation in Sevier County. Brady Anthony Flint was booked into the Sevier County Jail after a grand jury returned an indictment tied to allegations stretching back to 2018.
The exact number of charges against Flint varies by outlet. According to WVLT, the Sevier County Sheriff's Office said Flint was indicted on 22 counts, including child rape, as the result of an investigation that began in 2023. WATE reported that a Sevier County Grand Jury indicted Flint on 21 total criminal charges, while The Mountain Press put the number at 20 felony charges, including rape of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Allegations Span Five Years
The underlying allegations reportedly cover a broad timeframe. WATE's report states that the alleged abuse took place between 2018 and August of 2023, and multiple criminal counts involve a victim who was under the age of 13 at the time. The Mountain Press similarly reported that the allegations involve two victims, with incidents said to have started in 2018 and lasted until 2023.
Per WATE, the charges against Flint include child rape, aggravated sexual battery, sexual battery by an authority figure, statutory rape by an authority figure, and continuous sexual abuse of a child. The station reported that Flint was booked into the Sevier County Jail on Oct. 29.
Investigation Dates Back to 2023
The sheriff's office said Flint had been indicted as the result of an investigation that began in 2023, according to WVLT's reporting on the sheriff's office statement. That multi-year timeline, paired with the discrepancies in how many charges different outlets have reported, means the full scope of the case remains somewhat unsettled in public reporting, and reports said Flint was being held on Friday, Oct. 30.
No court filings or other primary records were made available to independently confirm the precise charge count or the current status of the case. The investigation was handled by the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, while the Sevier County Grand Jury returned the indictment; the sheriff's office has not released a full statement detailing every count.
