Seattle is starting Thursday, November 5, with periods of MVFR conditions continuing into mid-morning as shower activity diminishes; visibility is around 10 miles at nearby Boeing Field. The brief calm will include a partly sunny afternoon before a wetter, windier pattern settles back in across the region.
Sunny Thursday Gives Way To Friday Rain
Thursday should stay mostly dry, with partly sunny skies and a high near 56 degrees. Southerly winds of 8 to 11 knots, or about 9 to 13 mph, are expected before easing in the afternoon. Dry weather is expected this afternoon, making this the best outdoor window before the next system arrives.
Rain may return after 4 a.m. Friday, followed by a cloudy day with an 80% chance of precipitation and a high near 55. The latest National Weather Service outlook indicates steadier rain could reach the Seattle metro late Friday afternoon or evening and continue into Friday night.
Warmer Saturday, Then Another Wet Stretch
Saturday will be warmer, with a high near 63, but rain is still likely and another round of wet weather is expected Saturday night. Sunday rain is likely before 10 a.m.
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue next week, with rain chances returning Monday and more persistent rain likely Monday night through Veterans Day on Wednesday. Wednesday could reach 60 degrees, but the forecast still calls for rain and mostly cloudy skies.
Strongest Winds Stay North And Along The Coast
The strongest wind alerts are focused outside Seattle, including the northern Washington coast and areas north of Everett on Friday. Seattle should see southerly winds, while coastal and northern interior locations could face much stronger gusts.
River flooding is not expected over the next seven days, though repeated rain will gradually saturate soils and raise base flows. For Seattle plans, Thursday is the day to take advantage of the dry break; from Friday onward, an umbrella and waterproof shoes will be useful accessories.
