Jacksonville is warming into another summerlike day, with partly sunny skies and temperatures reaching about 82 degrees Wednesday. The bigger concerns remain along the coast and the St. Johns River, where minor flooding and dangerous rip currents are still affecting local plans.
Warm, Breezy Wednesday Before Fog Returns
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville expects easterly winds of 7 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph, while rain chances stay near zero. Temperatures should ease into the upper 70s during the afternoon as clouds increase, making for a mostly dry day across the city.
Tonight will stay mild, with partly cloudy skies and a low near 66 degrees. Patchy fog could develop after 5 a.m. Thursday, followed by mostly sunny conditions and another warm high near 83.
Coastal Flooding Advisory Runs Through Early Friday
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for coastal Duval County through 4 a.m. EST Thursday, November 5, with minor flooding possible in low-lying roads, parks and lots. Isolated road closures are possible, so drivers should allow extra time, avoid barricades and never drive through water of unknown depth, according to the National Weather Service.
The St. Johns River continues to reach minor flood stage around high tide, especially from downtown Jacksonville southward. Water levels should gradually ease as winds shift and weaken, but recent rainfall could keep elevated levels around parts of the river basin into the weekend.
Beachgoers Face Dangerous Rip Currents
The beaches remain under a high risk of rip currents through late Wednesday night. Anyone heading to the shore should swim near a lifeguard, and anyone caught in a rip current should float, avoid fighting the current and move parallel to the shoreline when possible.
Friday stays warm and partly sunny with a high near 82. A weak front will cross Friday, while a stronger, drier cold front this weekend sets up cooler conditions early the following week. Saturday should be sunny near 78 degrees, while Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high around 74.
Cooler, Drier Pattern Arrives Monday
Monday brings a high in the lower 70s and a 20% chance of rain, followed by a Tuesday high near 78. The latest forecast is a notable shift from Tuesday's update, which focused more heavily on lingering rain and coastal hazards; that earlier Hoodline report is available here.
