The suspect in the Shoreline case posted the $25,000 bond set by a judge and was released after being booked into King County Jail, according to Kenmore police as reported by KIRO 7 News Seattle. Police said they do not know the suspect’s current whereabouts and anticipate a future court appearance.
The suspect faces felony harassment and felony assault on a police officer charges, KIRO 7 reported, citing police. The harassment allegation concerns threats against grocery store employees and officers; police linked the assault charge to the attack on the officer.
Police account of the encounter
The incident began Friday, when Kenmore officers were helping Shoreline police respond to a report of threats involving a weapon at a grocery store on Ballinger Way. Police said the suspect had threatened to kill employees and responding officers, according to KIRO 7’s report.
Police said the suspect ran as officers arrived. During the attempted arrest, the suspect drew a knife and repeatedly tried to stab a Kenmore officer, cutting the officer’s arm before officers took the suspect into custody. The officer was treated at a hospital and was expected to be okay, KIRO 7 reported, citing police. Kenmore police also said they had dealt with the suspect earlier in 2026 over threats against officers.
Earlier incidents involving Kenmore officers
In August 2025, a customer who had assaulted staff at a Bothell Way business also attacked two Kenmore officers during an arrest attempt; both officers were injured, and the suspect was booked on a felony assault charge, Shoreline Area News reported.
A separate 2020 robbery attempt at a Kenmore convenience store left store owner Steven Degroot and the suspect with life-threatening injuries, according to KOMO News. Degroot pinned the suspect until police arrived.
