A boy approximately 3 years old was found wandering alone Monday morning at an apartment complex in south Kansas City, wearing brown, sports-themed pajamas and with no adult in sight. By Monday, police said the child had been safely reunited with his family.
According to kmbc.com, the child was found in a complex in the 9400 block of Cleveland Avenue on Monday morning. As reported by KCTV, the toddler was found unattended near the Parc at Creekside apartment complex in Kansas City, Missouri, prompting officers to ask the public for help identifying him.
Few Details Released on the Circumstances
Investigators have not released how long the child had been alone or who initially reported the situation, per KCTV's reporting. KCTV also noted it removed the toddler's photo from its coverage to protect his privacy, safety, and long-term well-being.
The child has since been reunited with his family, police say. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Kansas City Police Department's Juvenile Section at 816-234-5150 or call 911.
Not an Isolated Case in Kansas City
This is not the first time Kansas City police have turned to the public to help reunite a lone child with family. In a separate incident, a young boy found wandering alone in a Kansas City neighborhood Monday evening was later reunited with his family, according to the same outlet's report. That boy, who identified himself as “Dylan,” was located around 6 p.m. near Independence and Drury avenues, and officers had asked for the public's help identifying him and locating his parents or guardians before confirming he was safely reunited with family.
