Two 18-year-old men are facing charges after a vehicle pulled up alongside a group of minors walking down a Batesville, Mississippi street last month and opened fire, wounding five of them. Denardo House and Demarion Phillips were taken into custody without incident in Como on Tuesday following an investigation into the shooting.

According to WREG, U.S. Marshals said the two men were arrested in connection with the October shooting that left five minors injured. The shooting happened on October 7 in the 200 block of Noble Street in Batesville, where minors were walking down the street when a vehicle approached and opened fire on them, according to the Marshals.

Five Minors Hurt, One in Surgery

One of the minors who was shot underwent surgery and was still recovering in the hospital, the outlet reports. Four other minors suffered graze wounds and injuries from shrapnel in the same shooting.

The Batesville Police Department investigated the shooting and issued arrest warrants for both Phillips and House. Authorities said Phillips was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while agents said House was wanted for accessory after the fact in connection with that aggravated assault.

Arrests Made in Como

The capture came together after investigators tracked both suspects to residences roughly a mile apart in Como. U.S. Marshals of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Phillips at a residence in the 200 block of Ford Street, while House was arrested at a residence in the 400 block of Wesson Street, per the same account. Both men, ages 18, were taken into custody on Tuesday without incident.

The Panola County Sheriff's Office and the Batesville Police Department assisted with the apprehensions, the report notes. A separate, low-confidence snippet from WJTV similarly indicates two 18-year-olds were arrested in Como in connection with the October drive-by shooting, describing one juvenile as hospitalized and four others injured.
