A pursuit involving two Kias ended in a crash on State Highway 10; two people were hospitalized and two others arrested.
According to the Haltom City Police Department, the sergeant tried to stop the erratically driven vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, crossed multiple lanes, and caused a collision in the intersection before fleeing the scene. The sergeant then pursued the vehicle through the area.
The chase ended in the 3800 block of East Belknap Street, where the sergeant used a tactical vehicle intervention to stop the car, per the department's account. The driver got out and was taken into custody without further incident, and the bulletin notes no injuries were reported during the pursuit.
Rifle and Drugs Found in Search
Once the suspect was in custody, officers searched the vehicle and recovered a rifle along with multiple controlled substances, the police department said. That discovery added significant weight to the case against the driver, who already faced charges tied to the chase and crash itself.
Suspect's Identity Withheld Pending Court Appearance
Haltom City police have not released the suspect's name, photograph, or video from the incident, saying that information will stay under wraps until the suspect appears before a magistrate. That leaves key details of Monday's case, including who was behind the wheel, unanswered for now.
In June 2023, the Star-Telegram reported that two people were hospitalized and two others arrested after officers chased two Kias traveling more than 70 mph in the 5400 block of East Belknap before the cars crossed the Loop 820 bridge and crashed into concrete construction barriers on State Highway 10. That earlier investigation indicated both vehicles may have been stolen.
