UA Little Rock has raised more than $266 million for its 100th anniversary, surpassing its original $250 million campaign goal after years of incremental progress toward the centennial benchmark.
The figure was reported by The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The university says its yearlong centennial commemoration runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, according to ualr.edu.
UA Little Rock traces its roots to 1927, when Little Rock Junior College opened in what is now Little Rock Central High School, according to Arkansas Money & Politics. A century later, the school says it serves 8,000 students, per the university's own account of its centennial year.
A Campaign Years in the Making
The Centennial Campaign's final tally represents a steady climb that university officials have tracked publicly for several years. The school's 2025 campaign update put the total at $233 million, nearly 94% of the $250 million goal, as of late September of that year, per the same ualr.edu account. Before that, the campaign had crossed the $203 million mark, a figure Arkansas Money & Politics described at the time as the largest amount ever raised in a UA Little Rock campaign, exceeding the previous campaign by $100 million.
University officials have said the campaign is meant to support scholarships, faculty, technology, and academic excellence, and that it has already increased the university's endowment by more than 200 percent. The campaign's priorities break down into four pillars, student scholarships, student success initiatives, the living and learning environment, and program excellence, the outlet reported. Among the notable gifts behind the total was a $25 million anonymous donation earmarked for student scholarships and student success initiatives.
Employee Giving Climbed Alongside Big Donations
Beyond the headline dollar figure, the university has pointed to rising participation from its own workforce as a sign of the campaign's reach. When the Centennial Campaign began in 2001, only 6.5 percent of employees contributed; by the time of the September 2025 update, that share had more than tripled to 20.7 percent, the university's report noted. UA Little Rock had set a goal of raising employee participation to 37 percent in 2025, though it is not established whether that target was reached.
Thursday's celebration arrives as the university enters the heart of its centennial year, with the Fine Arts Building gathering offering a visible marker of a fundraising effort that has been building for roughly a quarter century. The exact circumstances of how the final total surpassed earlier reported figures were not detailed beyond the headline number itself, but the milestone stands as the latest chapter in a campaign that has reshaped the school's finances since its founding era in the late 1920s.
