A 17-year-old girl was left with life-threatening injuries Tuesday night after she was thrown from the open sunroof of a moving vehicle in a Vancouver, Washington parking lot. Police say she had been standing through the sunroof while another teen drove at high speed before a sharp turn sent her flying onto the pavement.

Vancouver Police responded to the parking lot at 850 SE 192nd Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday after someone reported that a person had fallen out of a vehicle and was hurt, according to the City of Vancouver. When officers arrived, they found the 17-year-old on the ground, and she was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the city's account, the injured teen had been standing in the vehicle through its open sunroof while the driver, also a 17-year-old girl, sped through the parking lot. At one point, the driver made a sharp turn, and the teen who was standing up flew out of the sunroof and hit the pavement.
