Pop-Up Shop Opens on Fillmore

Upper Playground is repurposing its old FIFTY24SF space on Fillmore, having moved the gallery a few doors down the street. The storefront will now host a series of pop-up shops, the first of which opened this week.

For one month only, drop by 252 Fillmore to check out the "Guns and Shades" shop -- the "shades" part being designer sunglasses from Mayfourteenth, a brand of handmade eyewear from Oakland's own Benjamin Belsky, and the "guns" part being some seriously weaponized taxidermy from artist Peter Gronquist. You kinda need to see it in person. Mayfourteenth is also selling some rare vintage frames from brands like Gucci and Versace, though with some pricetags in the 4-digits, you'll probably need to make an appointment if you want to see those. The shop will be open daily from 12-8pm, now through July 14th. Definitely worth a pop-in.
