This kitty is ashamed of herself. Maybe it's because she doesn't have any Fourth of July weekend plans. Or maybe it's because her owner made her wear a ridiculous costume.
Either way, don't be like this kitty. We've got plenty of options to keep you busy, happy, and not at all shamey this holiday weekend.
Friday If you've got World Cup withdrawal after three days without a match, congrats: your agony is now over. Head to Danny Coyle's, Mad Dog in the Fog, or pretty much anywhere else in the neighborhood with a TV this morning to catch the Netherlands vs Brazil at 7am, or Uruguay vs Ghana at 11:30am. At night, D-Structure hosts another first Friday event -- this time, the opening of "SHIFTERS," an exhibition of works by artist Stephanie Mufson. It's free, and the first 100 guests get free wine, so get there early (doors at 8pm). Just be sure to RSVP via their Facebook page. Saturday More World Cup action! Argentina vs Germany at 7am, and Paraguay vs Spain at 11:30am. Catch the early game at Danny Coyle's and you might just snag free empanadas courtesy of El Porteño. Wander just a tad north of the neighborhood to check out the Fillmore Jazz Festival, 10am - 6pm, all along Fillmore from Eddy to Jackson. You might want to avoid the 22 though. Lower Haters is having an afternoon Mini-Fair with artists, food, clothing, music, raffles -- you know, fair stuff. Starts at noon, and it's free, so check it out. At night, the S.F. Vintage Reggae Society throws a "Wake the Town" night at Mad Dog in the Fog from 9:30pm - 2am. It's ska, rocksteady, and reggae music, and there's no cover. We're not Jamaican this up! Sunday Aside from the 2nd day of the Fillmore Jazz Fest, we don't know of much going on Sunday. Except for that whole Independence Day thing. Relatedly, don't be shocked if you hear folks setting off fireworks in Duboce Park this weekend. But you didn't hear that from us. Know of other stuff happening in the 'hood this weekend? Do tell.
