If you've stopped by Bean There Cafe recently, you may have noticed a collection of Lower Haight-themed artwork by artist (and L.H. resident) Christie LaRussell. Tonight, the Mission's Artist Xchange Gallery hosts an opening reception for "Escape into Summer," a group show including three paintings by LaRussell.

LaRussell's a regular in the neighborhood, along with her Terrier pup Taxie Cab-ernet ("Taxie" for short). With her artwork, she focuses on "the familiar urban, what we pass everyday and take for granted. These scenes change, building are remodeled, businesses change... it’s [her] way of documenting the here and now." Tonight's reception is from 7-9pm at the Artist Xchange, 3169 16th St (near Guerrero). The show runs through the end of July.
