Bring us your favorite family apple pie recipe using apples from the market, along with a printed recipe card, and enter to win amazing prizes! Entries will be judged by local businesses and market patrons. Show us your baking skills! If you'll allow me to step into the first person for a moment, I'm not sure whether I qualify as a local business or market patron (or both?), but holy sweet Marie Callendar, I've been invited to be one of the judges at this thing. Them: "Wanna come eat like 20 pies?" Me: Blink. Blink. Drool. Needless to say, I'll be there. But enough about me -- let's talk about you for a minute. If you think you've got a recipe worthy of my digestion (sorry, me again), bring it to the market any time between 10am and 11:45am on Sunday. The judging goes down from noonish till the break of my belt buckle, after which those of us who can still talk will announce the results. The grand prize winners will get a cool $50 and have their recipe published and distributed at the farmers' market. They'll probably also be the subject of a much-coveted Sunday afternoon post on Haighteration, assuming I haven't slipped into a sugar coma at that point. Any readers up for this? If so, what are you waiting for? Git your peelin' and corin' and crustin' on, and I'll see you Sunday!
