This weekend, a slew of artists took their talents to the corner of Haight and Laguna to create a giant mural welcoming visitors to the Lower Haight.
The project was supposed to wrap up by Sunday night, but the weather gods would have none of it.
Some artists were able to finish their work; others will be returning over the course of this week to complete their sections of the wall.
We stopped by on Saturday morning (before the rain started) to check out the artists in action. Then we followed up this morning to see how much progress was made.

Sonya Genel works on a detailed sketch of her work on the Laguna Street side of the wall.
Sonya was able to get some painting done before the rain started, but it looks like she may have to return this week to finish her design.
Artist Z-Man was working on an elaborate sketch involving a baby, a pacifier, and roaches -- but the rain interrupted his progress.
Hugh Leeman got an early jump on the project by making the panels for his design ahead of time.
Leeman was able to complete his work before the rain came.

Kate's Kitchen supplied some breakfast sandwiches and potatoes, while we hear Memphis Minnie's brought the lunch rations.
And finally, Elwood, the official dog of Lower Haters Gallery, could hardly contain his excitement while watching all the action.
