We're a little late with our post today for a couple of a reasons. First, we were up late celebrating the Giants' World Series victory last night (more on that in a sec).
But also, we took a little time out of our usual routine to vote this morning. If you haven't voted yet, make sure you do. It's not hard.
OK, now that we've gotten that out of the way, we'll give you what you came for: a boatload of pics and video clips from last night's celebration in the Lower Haight.
A couple of notes: we can't speak for other parts of the city, but the scene in the Lower Haight was joyous. It was almost the opposite of a riot. And no, despite the claims of a couple of tweets we saw, nobody was murdered on Haight Street. However, one shop proprietor did tell us he was "bit by a cougar" at one point. He assures us it was more frisky than malicious. Secondly, kudos to the SFPD for having the smarts to a) close down Haight between Fillmore and Steiner to traffic, and b) let folks just plain enjoy themselves. They could have tried to disperse the crowd or crack down on some of the revelry, but instead they let folks get their catharsis on. Well done. Alright, enough chatter. Here are some pics we took from the festivities! And here's a roundup of some photos from around the web!

Also, be sure to check out this great Flickr set from saucemeisterq. (We don't have the rights to reproduce them here, but trust, they're pretty awesome.)
Update: the saucemeister has given us the green light to post some of his pics!
