New Indian Restaurant / Hair Salon Hybrid Coming to Lower Haight

Well, now we've seen everything!

Seemingly out of nowhere, a combination hair salon and Indian restaurant -- dubbed "Tikka MaSalon" -- has set up shop at long-vacant 150 Steiner. The shop's owner, who understandably wishes to remain anonymous, explains the concept to Haighteration thusly: "The Lower Haight has so many hair salons. And so many Indian restaurants. But so far, there is no place that combines the two." Then he pauses dramatically, leans in, and whispers, "This will be that place!" His theory is that folks who live and work in the Lower Haight already make hair appointments during their lunch breaks, so they'll appreciate the efficiency of feasting on some Tandoori while getting their Brazilian blowouts. This is entirely based on speculation, however, as he has never actually been to the Lower Haight, nor does he have any background or insights into either the restaurant or salon industries. "Waste of time," he says dismissively. Is he worried that the Lower Haight already has enough Indian restaurants and hair salons? "Well, technically Tikka MaSalon doesn't fully qualify as either. So..." And then he kinda trails off. If anyone out there is brave enough to get their hair cut by a struggling Indian chef or have their lunch prepared by a confused beautician, keep an eye on this one. They'll be opening as soon as they receive an extremely extensive slew of permits, which should be... oh... never.
