Yes it's the Friday before a holiday weekend, but that don't mean there ain't news to report! Here are a few news items for you to digest as you slide towards Memorial Day and beyond.

  • Ten months after a disgruntled bee-hater effectively wiped out three of Hayes Valley Farm's hives with insecticide, SF Weekly reports that the farm has rebounded, and is ready to start holding beekeeping classes after installing a slew of new hives and establishing better security at the site.
  • Greenburgers (518 Haight) will be closed from Saturday until Tuesday for a well-earned long weekend.
  • Not to be outdone by the DMV, the Shell station at Oak and Divisadero is now offering overnight parking, from 7pm to 3am, for a flat rate of $6:
  • How does $15 for $30 worth of southern-style comfort food at Two Jacks sound? Sounds good to us. Go grab this deal before midnight tonight, and use it by December.
  • Mark your calendar -- there will be a party on the afternoon of Saturday, June 11th to celebrate the Lower Haight mural. More details to come soon...
  • Starting Tuesday, Uva Enoteca (568 Haight) will be featuring four new microbrews on tap: Allagash White, Oskar Blues' Dales Pale Ale, Northcoast PranQster, and Stone Ruination IPA. Additionally, they'll be adding a new beer, Oskar Blues' Mama's Little Yella Pils, to their happy hour menu for just $2.
  • Hey guys -- and maybe some gals -- want to learn how to shave with a straight-edge razor? Sure ya do. That's why Thrillist suggests you check out the class, Mastering the Art of the Straight Razor, held at Mystic Haircutting at 14 Haight Street. Not quite the Lower Haight, for sure, but it's still a pretty close shave. (Get it?)
  • And finally, this week Ragazza (311 Divisadero) earned a 3-star review from the Chronicle's top food critic, Michael Bauer. Three stars means "excellent" in Bauer's book, and we'd have to agree. We don't usually cover reviews, but since Nopa and Nopalito are the only other restaurants in the general vicinity to get Bauer's 3-star nod, we thought it noteworthy. (In case you're wondering, only 7 restaurants in the Bay Area get 4 stars -- which we assume means perfection? -- though several have earned 3.5.)
