It's the creation of artist Sonya Genel -- and sadly, it no longer looks like this.
The piece, along with much of the rest of the mural, was defaced with splashes of blue and yellow paint by anonymous malcontents in June. This afternoon, Genel return to the mural to clean up her work. And you can help. Meet Genel at the corner of Haight and Laguna today, where the clean-up is scheduled from 1pm-4pm. You'll be supplied with paint remover, brushes, soapy water, and lots of good karma. Plus, you'll get to hang out with one very talented artist, and help her restore her work to its former glory. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
