American Tripps hosted their first night of “Berlin-Style” ping pong in the Mission way back in the summer, and the underground party has quickly become a hot ticket for its refreshing combo of beer, techno, and semi-competitive group ping pong.
Now, we’re excited to say that the party is hitting the Lower Haight.
For the next two Saturday nights, D-Structure (520 Haight) will roll away its racks and transform into a venue for “Trippin’ in the Lower Haight.” The ping pong party will include drinks (one free for the first 20 attendees), music by DJ PJ, cozy couches, and friendly competition around the ping pong table. So what’s so different about “Berlin-Style” ping pong? Basically, it involves twenty or so competitors rotating around the table, volleying as they go, and being eliminated one-by-one as they make errors. If you're thinking of swinging by D-Structure this Saturday, December 10th, wear your Santa gear for extra props. Meanwhile, the event on the following Saturday (the 17th) has a "feliz navidad" theme, and will feature a giant piñata filled with adult goodies. Each event is scheduled to run from 8:30pm to 1am.
