Here's one for our Upper Haight friends, or Lower Haighters willing to venture west in search of sweet freebies.
FuncheapSF brings news that Ben & Jerry's, at the corner of Haight and Ashbury, will be giving away slices of ice cream cake tonight as an effort to help out the SF Food Bank. All you have to do is donate a can or box of food, and you'll get yourself a free slice of Vermont's finest. Suggested items for donation include canned fruit and vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, beans, rice, pasta, and soups. The event runs from 5pm to 8:30pm today, and then will repeat tomorrow, and again next Wednesday the 21st. Same hours, all three days. Can't make the events, but still want to donate? Just swing by Ben and Jerry's and drop your donation in their food barrel any time between now and the 27th. More info can be found over on B&J's Facebook page.
