Daylight Savings Time begins this evening at 2am. Some of you might be grumpy about the hour of sleep you're losing, but others are rejoicing in the extra daylight that awaits them in the evening.
In the spirit of DST, make sure you replace the batteries in your fire alarms, replenish your earthquake kits, and check out the following things coming up related to your spring cleaning.
CLEAN YOUR CLOSET: Book Reading on Reducing Clutter Local author Dinah Sanders will be reading from her book, Discardia: More Life, Less Stuff. According to Sanders, "Discardia helps you carve away the nonsense of physical objects, habits, or emotional baggage, and uncover what brings you joy." In addition, the library is setting up a space for you to bring/donate any books, CDs or DVDs you want to give away. Use this opportunity to put theory into practice on Wednesday, March 14 from 6-7:30pm at the SFPL Main Library. (100 Larkin - L/H Meeting Room, Lower Level) FUNDRAISE: Eat at Patxi's & Help Schools If you need to eat before the book reading next Wednesday, you might want to consider Patxi's. If you eat there or order from them anytime on March 14, part of the proceeds will benefit KIPP Bay Area Schools. (511 Hayes) GET SOME EXERCISE: Walk, Don't Ride There are a lot of bus disruptions this weekend due to the N-Judah makeover, Sunday Streets and Tibetan March. Take this opportunity to walk and get the exercise you've been saying you would get since you made that New Year's resolution. SPEND WISELY: Square loves Hayes Valley Local company, Square, released some new products & features, one of which includes having a virtual "tab" so you can pay for things if you don't have any money handy. All you need is the Card Case app on your phone. And to show the world how it works, they made a video that takes place entirely in Hayes Valley.
