Koshland Park & Community Garden, located at the corner of Page & Buchanan, provides Hayes Valley residents a cozy and multi-functional space for all your outdoor needs.

Created after a fire on the same block in 1973, the park is named after Daniel E. Koshland, a member of a San Francisco philanthropic family. After seeing troubling times in the 1980s and 1990s, where violence, prostitution and drug deals consumed the public space, the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Parks Group (now Community Grows) raised over two million dollars to renovate the area.

One project that emerged from the recent remodeling is the Western Addition Peace Wall, found along the perimeter of the park. Elementary school kids and local residents painted tiles that have been cemented into the wall, all of which depict ways to resolve conflicts and promote peace.
