A pedestrian was struck and killed by a 21 Muni bus on Hayes Street between Fillmore and Webster Streets this morning.

The Examiner reports that a man stepped out from between two vehicles on Hayes Street at 10:47am, and was struck by an inbound Muni bus. The man was pinned underneath. He was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital at 11:15am. Apparently the victim had no form of identification on him, and his identity is unknown at this time. A commenter on our Facebook page reports having been on the bus when the accident occurred:
"I was on the bus - the guy dove in front of the wheel. The driver slammed on the breaks but couldn't avoid hitting him. It was awful."
We'll update with any additional details.
