After two years of helping connect dogs with foster parents at their office at 650 Fillmore, Wonder Dog Rescue is closing. While they still plan to operate as a volunteer group as they have for the past 21 years, they will no longer use the space at Hayes & Fillmore as a location for people to meet the dogs.
According to a post made by Linda Beenau, founder of Wonder Dog Rescue, "a decline in adoptions and donations" has made it hard to keep up with their fixed expenses. Started over two decades ago by Linda, this volunteer group rescues dogs from all over Central and Northern California and helps find them foster parents before an adoption can take place. In order to raise money and sell their office supplies, the group is holding a yard sale this weekend from 11am-3pm on March 10 & 11 at their space on Fillmore. And if you don't have anything to buy but still want to help, they can use volunteers to make the day run smooth. Contact the group for more details. They do still have a few dogs that need foster parents before they move out of their office. Check out the listings and help find some Cocker Spaniel puppies a home.
