First, if you're a patron and/or supporter of the Vapor Room, you may want to stop by City Hall today to protest a federal crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries. While such businesses can generally operate legally under state and city laws, the Obama administration announced in October that it would be targeting California's most profitable growers and dispensaries, arguing that state laws weren't intended to allow for-profit sales, not to mention the fact that federal law bans the sale of marijuana completely. Today's rally kicks off at 11am on the Polk Street steps of City Hall, then follows with a noon march to the federal building at 450 Golden Gate Avenue.
Meanwhile, if all that protesting works up your appetite, keep on marching over to the Upper Haight, where Uppercasing reports that today is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's. From noon to 8pm, the scoop shop will be celebrating 34 years of Vermont's finest by giving out free cups and cones. That's 1480 Haight Street, at the corner of Ashbury.
