There's a lot of action taking place on Gough Street when it comes to cafes opening, closing and making management changes. We're still working on some details, but here's a summary of what we've noticed in the past week.
Hayes Valley Bakeworks This new cafe is set to open the first week of June and it's being run by DeLessio Bakery's former pastry chef, Alyssa Levy. As this EaterSF story points out, it's going to be a "nonprofit, community-oriented cafe" and will feature things like "Four Barrel coffee cake, peanut butter bacon cinnamon rolls, and a daily pizza made on potato quinoa crust." Get those appetites ready and visit the new bakery at 550 Gough in a few weeks. DragonEats Situated a few doors down from Hayes Valley Bakeworks and directly across from the Krav Maga studio, Dragoneats is opening up at 520 Gough. Marketing itself as "Vietnamese Streetfood," this new place is currently wrapped up like a birthday gift. A permit was secured back in April for the property and we're looking forward to see what's on the way.
The Crepe House
You've probably noticed that The Crepe House at 429 Gough has been closed for a little bit. The sign outside shows that the space is up for lease and includes "1250-1600 square feet" plus a basement. We're checking to see what the asking price is and will update this soon as we find out.
Terra Cafe & Bakery
One day Terra Cafe & Bakery is serving pastries at this busy intersection and the next day it's shut down. The sign in their front door says "Closed for changes in ownership. Thanks =)." We're guessing this means the transaction was a friendly one.
