Tonight, from 6pm to 10pm, Wing Wings (422 Haight) hosts Hapa Ramen, those local slingers of gourmet noodle bowl creations, for a very timely pop-up event.
Though the menu is slated to include some tasty-sounding Hapa creations like Duck Ramen and Spicy Chicken Tsukune Ramen, there's one item that's sure to be the star of tonight's show: Foie Gras Terrine. Foie gras, of course, is the liver of force-fed ducks or geese. The sale or production of foie will officially become illegal in California on July 1st, though there's some doubt as to whether the ban will actually be enforced. Nevertheless, lots of chefs around the city and state are hosting last-minute foie fests in anticipation of Sunday's ban. This may also be one of the last Hapa pop-ups, as they're currently building out a physical restaurant at 1527 Fillmore, due to open later this summer. So, get down to 422 Haight while you can before the ban, and get some flawless ramen before it's foie-less ramen. See what we did there?
