Katz [Bagels] To Become Nectar
Say goodbye to Katz and hello to Nectar, coming next week to 663 Haight.

SF Weekly reports that owner Mike Katz will be turning the location into an eatery called Nectar -- well, technically "Nectar Fresh," presumably so as not to be confused with the Nectar Wine Lounge in the Marina. Our Nectar will feature a "new menu of rustic, organic foods at an affordable price point," according to SF Weekly, and is being designed by local artist Romanowski of nearby mural fame. Romanowski will be giving "the interior a fresh look and feel by installing a selection of his art pieces and executing what he calls 'overall flavor direction.'" This is the latest in a series of reinventions for Katz, which for years was more commonly known as Katz Bagels. The bagel/pizza branding vanished way back in February of 2011. A few months later, Katz received permission to open its back patio to customers, but has yet to fully utilize the outdoor space. Nectar will reportedly be debuting next Saturday night (the 23rd) at 6pm. We'll keep you posted.
