Well you will, this Thursday night. That's when a half-dozen local jokesters calling themselves "The Haighters" take over the Peacock Lounge for a special evening of laughs. Dubbed the Haight Speech Comedy Show, the night promises two hours of "hilarious stand-up comedy from those who share your bars, laundromats, markets, and bus stops." The show starts at 8pm at the Peacock Lounge (552 Haight Street), and tickets are just $5. We can't remember the last time stand-up comedy came to the neighborhood, so we're pretty excited about this one. See you there? Update 6/12/12: Bad news, folks. The organizer just emailed us and said the show has been canceled, because the Peacock Lounge decided to rent the space out to a "higher bidder." Not cool, Peacock Lounge! They hope to reschedule the show soon. We'll keep you posted.
