Yesterday we received a peculiar email.

We were scanning our Inbox when we came across a message with the subject "We're now Findery." After deciding it wasn't spam, we checked out what it said: "July 30, 2012: A quick note from the Team Formerly Known as 2bkco to let you know that we changed our name. Please visit Findery: http://findery.com/ We look forward to finding your notes. Caterina & Heather & Amber & Maggie & Donald & Nolan & Jed (Team Findery)." Finding notes. Caterina. Heather. PINWHEEL! We got the opportunity to meet Caterina Fake, Heather Champ and the (formerly named) Pinwheel team back in April. They were just launching their product called Pinwheel, named after an object that's beautiful, playful and sticks in the ground like a pin. It turns out someone else liked that name too. Pinweel (without the "h") is a group photo sharing app that debuted earlier this year. According to a TechCrunch article, Pinweel let Pinwheel know back in February they were infringing on their "prior established rights in the trademark Pinweel." When asked the pinwheel.com domain name, the article quotes Pinweel as saying “We didn’t think it was necessary for us to spend a lot of money to purchase Pinwheel.com because we were really confident that we could successfully establish ‘Pinweel’, without the ‘h’, as a memorable brand that’s known for being the best way to share photos.” A story published yesterday in The New York Times says the fight is mostly over (for now) and the name will henceforth be "Findery." So for any of you who have a Pinwheel account and were confused by the Findery message yesterday, that's what's going on.
