Did you know there's another news-making, story-telling website that considers Hayes Valley its home?
The Bold Italic, located near Page & Franklin, produces some of our favorite stories about life in San Francisco. While they don't discuss Hayes Valley exclusively, they do like to throw different parties and events around town and here at their headquarters. Our friends at The Bold Italic tipped us off to two really fun shindigs coming up in the next few weeks. One is here on Page Street and the other takes place near Potrero Hill.
Pop-Up Mezcaleria | The Bold Italic HQ Mezcal, the original spirt of Mexico, is arriving in San Francisco and The Bold Italic wants you to join them for a unique spirit-tasting event. Taking place at their office at 32 Page Street on Wednesday, July 25 from 6:30-9:00pm, the spirit tasting will be hosted by "local mezcal bloggers & aficionados Max Garrone and Susan Coss will join forces with Bricia Lopez from Los Angeles." The hosts will guide you through different versions of Mezcal, such as "Alipus, Pierde Almas, Del Maguey, Metl, Wahaka, and a potential surprise." Appetizers, music and a signature Mezcal cocktail will also be included with your ticket. If you've been to the St. George's Tasting Room in Alameda and looking to up the ante, this event is for you.
Summer Soul Friday Night | The Verdi Club If you miss the days of getting prettied up for a quasi-formal occasion, now's your chance to put on a tie or dress (or both?) and dance the night away. Presented by The Bold Italic and Dusty Stax, the Summer Soul Friday Night takes place on Friday, July 20 from 8pm-1am at The Verdi Club (2424 Mariposa). According to the event description, some of the acts include "Carletta Sue Kay, Bay Area soul crooner Freddie Hughes (singing some of his chart-topping hits from the '60s), Quinn DeVeaux, Tahlia Harbour of Sonny and the Sunsets, true blue San Francisco singer Paula Frazer with the Golden Girls (Em Gift and Meryl Press), Justin Frahm, and Bob Reed of the Titan Ups." Soul food snacks and cookies will be provided. You just have to dress up (no jeans or sneaks allowed) and purchase a ticket. See you on the dance floor.
