A disturbing trend has taken hold in the neighborhood over the past two weeks, with at least four people reporting having been robbed at gunpoint within an hour or so of midnight.

Just over a week ago, we reported on two gunpoint robberies in the Lower Haight the previous week. At 12:45am on June 27th, a woman was robbed of her wallet and cell phone at Fillmore and Duboce, and on June 28th just before midnight, a man was robbed near Fillmore and Waller. We now have two more robberies to report. Last Sunday, July 1st, a resident was robbed at gunpoint at Webster and Waller around 10:45pm. Local Addition quotes police as saying that the victim gave up his backpack, after which the suspect fled on foot. Two nights later, around 11:15pm, a resident was robbed while sitting on the front steps of his home on Page Street just west of Fillmore. A suspect allegedly approached and asked the man for a cigarette, then pulled out a gun and stole the man's cellphone. We have no way of knowing if these incidents are related. In the first, the suspect is described as a 20-year-old black male, while in the most recent, he is described as "around 30 years old." Regardless, stay safe and be alert out there, especially late at night near Fillmore. If any arrests are made, we'll update accordingly.
