Your Bastille Day Itinerary
Today is Bastille Day and we've put together a schedule of things for you to do.

Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789. Often considered the start of the French Revolution, July 14 was declared a national holiday in 1880 and since then has become a time to get together and have some fun. Since people often refer to Hayes Valley as "the Paris of San Francisco" (no one calls it that), we put together a schedule of things to do if you want to keep a mostly strictly French theme for your Saturday.
11:00am: Begin the morning with an espresso and chocolate croissant from La Boulange. Unless you're boycotting La Boulange because of the whole Starbucks thing, in which case, grab something from Tartine instead. 12:00pm: Take a walk over to the French-American School, the "oldest and largest bilingual French/English school in California." Beginning in 1962, the school is 50 years old and has some of the finest solid-colored walls around. 12:30pm: Time for lunch. You're going to Absinthe and you're getting the Croque Monsieur and a selection of French cheeses. 2:00pm: Lunch was delicious but you still have a bit of a sweet tooth that needs to be fulfilled. You walk across the street to Chantal Guillon Macarons. You get the box of 6 for you and a friend to share. You're allowed 6 choices, but you only get Salted Caramel because you like too much of a good thing. 2:30pm: You're exhausted. You go home and take a nap. 4:00pm: Wakey wakey! The fog has cleared and you want to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. You grab a bottle of French wine from Arlequin, some delicious cheese from the Fromagerie at Gourmet & More and sit on a blanket and snack and soak in the sun. 7:00pm: After three hours of soaking in the sun (suspend reality with us for a moment), it's time for dinner. You swing by Jardiniere and they just so happen to have a table open for you and your friends. 9:00pm: After gaining 10lbs in 8 hours, you sign up for a gym membership at Live Fit Gym. 10:00pm: You head back home. And whatever you decide to do after all that food and wine is completely up to you. 10:04pm: You're snoring on your couch. Happy Bastille Day!
