With Labor Day weekend approaching in exactly one month, it's time to get ready for Burning Man.
Those of you who've attended Burning Man before might describe it as "camping meets partying" or "a metaphysical trip" or "like San Francisco... but in the desert." Those of you who haven't attended Burning Man might think of it as "that strangely quiet weekend in the city around Labor Day." Whether you've gone before, going this year or want to get a taste of the experience, we have an event for you. The Happiness Institute (1720 Market) is hosting Burning Man Radical Self-Expression Making Day from 1-5pm today and tomorrow. This is the chance to work on your self-expression "costume" that you can wear at the playa. The only request the Happiness Institute has is for you to "Collect your raw materials: you may want to find fabrics, swing by thrift stores, pick up some needles / thread / velcro / string / sequins / fur / whatever you’re into (no feathers please)." The event is free so head on down today or tomorrow for costume-making fun. Sans feathers.
