Lower Haight Leftovers: Extra Smoothie Edition
Not too many leftovers today, but that should make them all the more digestible. Here's the news that didn't quite make the front page this week.

Tonight, it's the return of Berlin-Style Ping Pong at DSF. You know the drill: music, booze, folks rotating around a table. 520 Haight, from 8:30pm to 12:30am.
On Saturday, the brewtruc beer garden is back at 160 Church Street, behind the former Blockbuster. For $25, you get ten 4-oz pours of craft beers from breweries like Stone, Anderson Valley, and Social Kitchen. There'll also be a homebrew competition, music, food trucks, and more -- with all proceeds going to benefit the TAY (Transitional Age Youth) program. That's 1pm to 6pm tomorrow afternoon. Update 11:30am: Brewtruc has just announced via their Facebook page that tomorrow's event has been canceled due to "technical difficulties". The next one is scheduled for 9/20.
Saturday night, back at DSF, it's a Trunk Show/Party and Charity Event. The trunk show will be for Modify Watches, a Berkeley-based modular watch brand. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from watch sales will go to the Special Olympics. "Booze, sweet tunes, good company, [and] high-fives" are expected. 8pm to 11pm.
The SFMTA is considering creating Muni/Taxi-only lanes on Church Street between 16th and Duboce. If you'd like info on the proposed changes, consider attending a community meeting on Monday at 6:30pm in the Gazebo Room of CPMC (45 Castro). There will also be a more formal hearing at 10am next Friday in room 416 of City Hall. The pilot project would go into effect in September.
The SF Planning Commission approved plans for the 55 Laguna housing development this week, despite concerns from neighborhood groups that excessive underground parking could lead to congested streets.
Finally, your latest Ross Mirkarimi update: NBC Bay Area posted video of an interview with Mirkarimi and his wife Eliana Lopez this week.
