Beer, popcorn, and a movie to support a new business?
Count us in.
Western Editions is the name of a new aspiring business led by Erin Fong and Taylor Reid. They want to create a letterpress print shop that partners with San Francisco individuals and businesses. The only problem is they need to raise some funds to get their business going. That's where Kickstarter comes in. If you haven't heard of them before, Kickstarter markets themselves as the "world's largest funding platform for creative projects." People register their idea and have to raise money by a certain deadline. Visiting Erin & Taylor's page shows how you can donate, what you get for the amount you donate, and a history (and fun video!) of why they're starting their business. Another way they're raising money is with an event being held at The Bold Italic (34 Page) this Thursday at 7:30pm. They're screening The Royal Tenenbaums and providing Speakeasy brews and popcorn for the crowd. Seating is limited so they want you to bring pillows and blankets to get comfy. There's no cost for the event, but donations for appreciated for their upcoming business (and the drinks). Register for the event on their Facebook page and enjoy a night with Wes Anderson's favorite dysfunctional family.
