Events. Food. Events involving food.
That pretty much sums up today's round-up of news items that didn't quite make the front page this week.
Let's dive in.
Oh hey, it's another free weekend at the California Academy of Sciences! From today thru Sunday, residents of the 94110, 94114, 94117, 94127, 94131, and 94132 zip codes get free admission for each visiting adult (plus up to six children, for all you prolific procreators out there). Just bring a valid photo ID with proof of residency.
Tonight, Aline's Closet hosts a "rackstory," a collaboration with designer Framo Polier. It'll feature a handmade collection of originals, plus "music, bubbles and truffles." That's 101 Pierce Street, tonight from 5pm to 8pm.
Also tonight, DSF and Threadless join forces for a special night, with Threadless art, DSF music, beer, prizes, and more. The event runs tonight from 8pm to 11pm at DSF, 520 Haight.
On Sunday, the Wigg Party is throwing another installment of the Urban Eating League, in which you and your team of eaters can rotate around to different host sites and eat your faces off. The event is mostly sold out, but you can still sneak your way onto the waiting list -- so get clickin'.
Wing Wings got some solid press this week, with multiple write-ups in SF Weekly and another in 7x7.
Over on Divisadero, there's a changing of the boutique guard afoot. Onyx Boutique, which has an outpost at 22nd and Guerrero, announced that it will soon be opening at 289 Divisadero, the former home of Swankety Swank, which closed in April.
Finally, a super-minor update on the restaurant that's going to open at 400 Haight Street, the former home of Rotee. This week, the restaurant applied for an alcohol license, which revealed two things. One: it'll serve beer and wine (not hard liquor). And two: the name is listed as "RICKYBOBBY" -- one word.
That's all for now. Anything else? tips [at] haighteration {{dot}} com.
