Midweek Update: Sushi, Beer, and the D5 Election
Oh, hey there busy week in Hayes Valley. Feels like you came out of nowhere.

We discovered three things going on in the neighborhood and want to share them all at once: D5 SUPERVISOR CANDIDATE DEBATE We learned from our friends at Haighteration that the Wigg Party is hosting a debate TONIGHT for the candidates running for our District 5 Supervisor. Topics will include "biking, local food, and all things related to sustainability and resilience." Doors open at 6:45pm and the debate will last from 7:15-8:45pm. [Harvey Milk Center for the Arts / 50 Scott] NEW BUSINESS TAKES OVER CREPE HOUSE The Crepe House shut down back in May and has been vacant for a few months. But local blog Eater discovered it won't be vacant for much longer. It looks like it will be a new sushi restaurant called something along the lines of "The One Sushi & Lounge." No estimated opening date yet, but we'll keep you updated when we learn more. [429 Gough] JAPANESE WEEKEND AT BIERGARTEN New store Kappa Zakka has partnered with our Biergarten to host a Japanese Weekend beginning today and lasting until Sunday evening. Offerings include "Asahi Beer from Japan, Sake curated by Beau Timken owner of True Sake, Japanese inspired German food by the Biergarten chefs, special socks by OW Socks, tea shirts designed by Matt Hulme, and a super cool Japanese atmosphere."
