It’s time to flex your Hayes Valley knowledge! This Sunday, October 21, a new website called Gordog.com is putting your know-how of our hood to the test with the Hayes Valley edition of their weekly two-hour scavenger hunt.

This is just the latest leg in a five-week tour through various San Francisco neighborhoods that will be continuing through October 28. This Sunday, participants will meet at noon next to the statue at Patricia’s Green for their first clue. The event is free to enter.
The Loot
According to Gordog's Emily Glauser, contestants will follow a series of clues to be the first to a package full of prizes. Each hunt has had a different collection of rewards based on the characteristics of different U.S. cities. For this weekend's event, the spoils will have a Chicago-centric motif, plus some Gordog.com swag. Winners will also receive a mention and a photo on the company's website, as well as an invitation to the launch party in November. “The first place winner, obviously, gets the grand prize, but we don't want people to walk away empty-handed so the 2nd - 6th place winners [also] get an invite [to our party],” Emily tells us.
The Clues
Given the relatively small geographic size of Hayes Valley compared to other SF neighborhoods, Emily says “we're making the clues more difficult [to solve].” For those who are having a hard time figuring out the clues, the site will be broadcasting hints on their Twitter (@GordogSF) and Facebook pages. The main goal here isn't to stump competitors -- it's to have fun. “The event is for everyone,” Emily says. “Kids really seem to have a great time with it.”
The Organizers
Gordog.com came up with the idea for these events in an effort to spread awareness about their fledgling company. The website is a brand-new one-stop shop for relocation from another U.S. city to San Francisco. It's so new, in fact, that the website hasn't even officially launched yet -- that happens tomorrow. Once a person or business decides to move to the Bay Area, Gordog.com helps make sure the move is as seamless as possible. "Gordog began from the fact that moving is not easy and moving to San Francisco is downright difficult. Packing, moving, worrying about belongings, finding apartments, and the stress of a new city can make the task daunting,” reads a description on their Facebook page. Emily adds, "Customers can ship items to us, we'll store the items, and once they are established in the city, we will deliver their items.” To learn more about Gordog.com, stay tuned to their website, Facebook page, or Twitter, and/or ask them in person at the scavenger hunt this Sunday. Until then, we suggest you brush up on your familiarity with Hayes Valley to better your chances at snagging the grand prize!
