This will come as no surprise to anyone who has tried to walk or bike through Octavia and Market, but now we have the stats to prove it: the intersection is officially SF's most dangerous.
The Bay Citizen reports that during the past three years, there have been more than 30 injury-causing crashes at the intersection, which is more than any other location in the city. The intersection has also seen the most crashes involving bicycles. The article details the history of Octavia, which opened in 2005, and explains how designers had to abandon certain elements that would have slowed traffic and presumably made the intersection safer. Definitely worth a read. Stay safe out there, neighbors.
