We wish we didn't have to keep reporting on these things, but they keep happening. So...

A reader who lives on Page Street between Steiner and Pierce writes to tell us of an attempted break-in yesterday morning.
"At about 4:15 am. on Friday morning a slight noise woke me up and I discovered a hand raising the window next to my bed! I shouted and the guy ran away. I wasn't able to see more than a black male of medium height and (maybe) slight build. There are jams on my windows so I wasn't panicked."
Two takeaways: 1) Keep your windows and doors locked, especially at night. 2) If something like this happens to you, call the police. Even if the break-in was unsuccessful, or you didn't get a good look at the suspect, report it. Because if we don't report these things, SFPD won't know about them, so they won't allocate cops to our neighborhood, so we'll likely have more crime. See? Here's to a safer 2013, neighbors.
