Tomorrow (Friday the 28th), you'll be able to ride Muni for free all day.

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of Muni's first day of operation, all rides on Muni will be free from 5am tomorrow until 5am Saturday. That means you can take no-cost joyrides on the 21 all day long, or head to Civic Center and voyage out to the hinterlands via unfamiliar lettered routes, like the mythical "L" or the mysterious "M." Or, if you have the day off, why not play tourist and ride a cable car? They're free tomorrow, too. If you miss tomorrow's excitement, don't fret. You'll get another chance for a free ride on New Year's Eve, when Muni will waive fares from 8pm to 6am the next day.
