2012 has had its ups and downs, hasn't it? It was the year of the foretold (and now debunked) Mayan apocalypse, and also the year the SF Giants clinched their second World Series title. As 2012 draws to a close, we look ahead to the fun events happening in Hayes Valley to ring in a new year. Depending on your budget and taste, there's no need to leave the neighborhood, since there are plenty of choices for merriment and jubilee to be had. Here are a few parties to look forward to tomorrow night:

Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell) Tickets: Advance - $45 / Door - $50 Start Time: 8pm According to the venue's website, "Turquoise Jeep Records is the definition of complete artistic freedom with no limitations. Their videos on YouTube accumulated millions of views and began their international notoriety. Since then they have been impacting the lives of people all over the world through their songs.” Davies Symphony Hall (201 Van Ness) Tickets: $85-$195 Start Time: 8pm S.F. Symphony totes this event as "the most glamorous party in the City," encouraging you to "add a little sparkle to your night. Shine your shoes, don your finest cocktail attire, and dance 'til dawn at the San Francisco Symphony's Masquerade Ball." The venue’s website goes onto say, “The party starts at 8pm with the swinging lounge tunes of The Martini Brothers in the main lobby. At 9pm, enjoy a lively concert. Afterward, complimentary La Marca® Prosecco will be flowing alongside desserts that taste as good as they look. Get your groove on with Super Diamond [a Neil Diamond tribute band] on the Second Tier, or harken back to the golden age of the 1930s with the Peter Mintun Orchestra and dance on the stage of Davies Symphony Hall." Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness) Tickets: $25 - $35 Start Time: Varied “Not Your Normal New Year’s Eve” returns with a variety show headlined by the '80s comedy legend Emo Philips (who, some believe, is the eponym of the musical genre) with support from master of deadpan Brent Weinbach and San Francisco's Jill Bourque. Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (99 Grove) Tickets: $85 Start Time: 8 p.m. The improvisational jam band that performs music from the Grateful Dead catalog will be gracing Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for a New Years Eve extravaganza. City Hall (1 Drive Carlton B. Goodlett) Tickets: $35 - $105 Start Time: 8pm The evening will be filled with performances by Love Charisse, L.A. Wolfe, WhiteNoize, UrFriends, Bryan Boogie, The Les, DJ Weapon, David Gregory, DJ J-Trip, and John Destiny.
New Years Drag Show at Marlena's Bar
Marlena’s Bar (488 Hayes) Free Start Time: Doors - 8pm, Show - 10:30pm Marlena’s will be hosting a New Years version of its usual drag show that happens every Saturday.
