Meet the Street Pups of the Upper Haight
You see them on the sidewalk, in the park, on rucksacks; you might wonder what their stories are. Today, a survey of some of the canine residents of the Upper Haight.

Wherever they come from, whatever their stories, no matter how people feel about them--and feelings are bound to vary--the dogs of the Upper Haight are de facto residents, at least for a time.
Meet Jack (pictured above). He's a five-month-old companion to local Haightster Jessica from Massachusetts. He was given to her at Buena Vista Park by a stranger on Halloween. Jack loves playing with Jessica's dreads and running in circles.
Meet Delilah Moon Jones. Her owner, Jonah from Upstate New York, named her after his favorite song by the Grateful Dead, “Brown-Eyed Women." She's only four months old, and is already able to play fetch. She was given to Jonah at a pot farm in Mendocino County. She loves being a puppy on Haight Street.
Last but not least, meet Zucchini, 11 months, and Neela, 8 months. Their owners Maggie from Seattle and Blue from New York take them to the willows to swim. They love swimming and running around the park. Zucchini was given to Maggie in Garberville, California and Neela was given to her owner, Blue, in Portland, Oregon.
Both the puppies and their humans come from a variety of locations around the country, but Haight Street is where they choose to congregate and call home. Each Haightster exclusively told us that the best part of having the puppies along their journey is waking up next to them and having consistent companionship. What's your experience with street pups so far?
