People ask us all the time: what do you consider "Hayes Valley?"
For some people, Hayes Valley covers a wide swath of the city, as far west as Divisadero and north into Western Addition. Those people are mostly realtors. But the term "Hayes Valley" isn't just a recent invention -- we found references to it dating back to the earliest days of the Chronicle in the 1800s. Here's one from 1873:

The neighborhood has certainly changed over the years, and no doubt so have its borders. So Hayes Valley residents, we want to know: what are the current boundaries of our fair neighborhood? There are no wrong answers, of course, but we'd like to see if a consensus emerges. So if you have an opinion, do tell.
