We're starting to feel like a broken record here, but it looks like Divisadero could be getting yet another cafe.
It was just three weeks ago that we learned of plans to turn the retail storefronts at 605-607 Divisadero into some sort of cafe, and now it looks like the same might be happening at 351 Divisadero. The location was formerly home to the boutique Backspace (pictured above), which closed in January. In May of 2012, a permit was filed for the location, with the following description: "EXISTING RETAIL CLOTHING STORE TO BE CONVERTED INTO RETAIL COFFEE. NEW COUNTER, REMODEL, TOILET." The permit was assessed but not yet approved -- it's back in the hands of the applicant, who has a year to pay some fees. So there's always the possibility that this won't go anywhere. If it does, though, the cafe would join Vinyl (next door), Mojo, The Mill, Bean Bag, Cafe Abir, and whatever's going in at 605-607 in making Divisadero one very caffeinated street. We'll keep you updated.
